ACASIA looks to go far in Asia
13/7/2004
Since 1997, ACASIA has been serving business customers by supporting a range of telecommunications network offerings. ACASIA’s CEO, Conrad C. Reyes, believes that the strength of ACASIA lies “in the uniqueness and strength of the partnership”.
The company is formed through ASEAN telcos the Communication Authority of Thailand, Indosat, Jabatan Telekom Brunei, PLDT, Singtel and Telekom Malaysia said Reyes.
“No other carrier has the kind of backing ACASIA is enjoying” he said. Reyes believes ACASIA’s “one-stop-shop” concept is unmatched. “Regulatory constraints, however, prevent a few partners from providing competitive prices”.
“I am driven by the thought that ACASIA has the potential to compete globally. Any ASEAN company definitely can do so. Any genuine partnership can make things work. ACASIA is in the best position to make it happen!” said Reyes on what drives him to achieve.
By the end of the year, Reyes sees that there may be a new country entering the partnership, which will see ACASIA becoming a tougher force to reckon with. ACASIA is set to be ready to compete in terms of value and prices as ASEAN countries open up their telecoms market said Reyes.
Asked what may come in the way of his hope, Reyes said, “If some of the partners lost their “first love” so to speak, and fully commit themselves with other potential arrangements, this can be a stumbling block. But as I have mentioned, the partnership is intact, strong and gaining more strength. There’s no other way for ACASIA but up”.
